Green Empowerment is increasing sustainable impact with local partners across the globe.
LIFTING UP RURAL COMMUNITIES
VFF’s relationship with Green Empowerment (GE) is based on the practice of working with in-country organizations and locally available resources to improve economic, health and environmental conditions in rural communities. In order to be sustainable, the bulk of this work is developed and implemented by members of those communities and in close partnership with local organizations dedicated to long-term impact in their home countries.
VFF and GE have partnered to provide technical expertise, materials, and organizing support for projects that have benefited thousands of participants in rural communities throughout Latin America.
BUILDING STRONGER COMMUNITIES BY SHARING IDEAS
In 2019 VFF and GE hosted a South-South farmer exchange with participants from Oaxaca, Mexico visiting Santander, Colombia to learn firsthand about projects there that could be applicable in Mexico. For many of the participants, this was their first time leaving Oaxaca and we plan to replicate this type of trip annually. This growing partnership with GE has launched a flood of ideas and sharing from rural communities across the world.
