VFF’s Social Enterprise Transforms Rural Products

KEEPING IT LOCAL

Mix Sabores de Oaxaca (MSO) works closely with Proyectos Para Un Futuro Mejor (PFM) to coordinate programs that increase the quality and quantity of fruit from rural  producers. The social enterprise also works actively in Oaxaca and throughout Mexico to increase the market for locally-produced, high-quality, healthy fruit products. MSO’s products showcase both rural products and urban ingenuity through locally sourced and produced goods. The profits from the sales of these goods are then used to support PFM and its rural development programs.

VIRTUOUS CIRCLE

The goal for all PFM program beneficiaries is to find the path to sustainable economic activity that best suits them, their families and communities. To this end, MSO provides the business infrastructure to process their products into higher-level consumables, increase market share, and develop an awareness of the rich local culinary and cultural diversity to be found in Oaxacan agricultural production. When the proceeds of MSO’s sales and activities circle back to PFM, who is then able to expand its programs, the social enterprise circle is complete and continuous.
